Jim Alex Shugart, 81 of Garland, Texas went to be with his lord on September 4, 2018 in Carrollton, Texas.

He was born August 17, 1937 to Howard and Jimolea Shugart in Garland. Jim Alex was the second of five bothers; Jack, William, Rick and Vick. Growing up Jim Alex was involved in many activities, played football, enjoyed hunting and being outdoors, formed many lifelong friendships. After graduating high school in 1956, he went to Denton, TX to attend north Texas State University, where he met his wife Dixie Sue Bonds. He worked for many years at the family business, Shugart's Tire and Appliances in Downtown Garland, and was also successful in numerous other businesses and opportunities. He loved spending as much time as he could on the golf course with his brother and friends and hosted a weekly bible study with the group for many years. He and Dixie also played an Important role with their grandchildren Alex and Shae as they were growing up. They were proud members of Springcreek Community Church and invited everyone to join them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shug and Gaga; his wife, Dixie; his brothers, Jackie, Rick and Vick; his son, Jimmy; and nephews, Eric and Ty. He is survived by his brother, Bill; his son, Bo; his grandchildren, Shae and Alex and his wife Elvira; and great grandchildren, Haley and Rene; nephews and nieces, Shelly and husband Gene Bridges, Wendy and husband Ricky Coles, Misty Shugart, Brock Shugart, Vicki Housley, and numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held for Jim Alex on September 7, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Directors in Room A, with a funeral service the following day at Springcreek Community Church at 11:00 AM located at 2660 Belt Line Rd, Garland, Texas with Pastor Lee officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Lung Association in Mr. Shugart's name.
