Averil Tyler Amburgey, age 29 of Lavon, Texas completed his earthly journey on August 29, 2020, at home. To honor Tyler, his Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 11:00am at the Buckingham Road Church of Christ in Garland, Texas.  Tyler was born on May 6, 1991, in Dallas, Texas. Tyler was the 2nd of 4 children born to Rick and Sherry Amburgey. Tyler attended Buckingham Road Church of Christ growing up and was baptized while at a youth camp trip to Lubbock Christian University.

Above all things Tyler was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed life most when he was with family, relaxing on the porch with his beloved wife Aimee or teaching his daughter Rylee how to do her best at whatever her passion was, while at the same time to accept and handle adversity.

An ongoing love for the sport of hockey started at the early age of 7. Tyler was selected to play for the first ever AAA Under 14 team in the Dallas area at age 13.  He was selected for the prestigious USNTDP and played for the USA under 17 and under 18 teams located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Tyler then went on to play in the USHL, while playing for the Dubuque Fighting Saints in Dubuque, Iowa, Tyler was part of a Championship team under Coach Jim Montgomery. After playing in the USHL, Tyler then started his professional playing career which included stops in the ECHL, CHL and SPHL where he was a contributor to another Championship Team, the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Tyler retired from active player status in 2016 and began his career coaching youth hockey. At the time of his passing Tyler was the Assistant Coach for the Dallas Stars Elite 18 Under AAA team and was also a Defensive Skills Specialist Coach for the Texas Warriors Youth Hockey Organization.

Tyler was a genuine kind soul who left us with an abundance of wonderful memories. Life will not be the same without him, but we trust that the Lord's timing is as it should be, even if we cannot begin to understand it. We are grateful for the years Tyler was given to us. Tyler's unselfish gift of himself to the Boston University School of Medicine - Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center to complete further scientific testing to advance CTE and brain trauma research is his gift that will live on.

Those left behind to cherish the memory of Tyler include, his best friend and loving wife Aimee, beautiful daughter Rylee and his faithful canine Rocco. His parents Rick and Sherry Amburgey, of Rowlett Texas, siblings, Jordan Amburgey and wife Lauren of Grandbury, Texas, Ashleigh Huntsinger and husband, Ian, of Royce City, Texas, and Caroline Miller and husband Mack, of Abilene Texas. Grandparents, John and Sandra Amburgey, of Garland, Texas and Paul and Sandy Hinds, of Allen, Texas. Tyler also has numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousin's, Aunt's and Uncle's, he is survived by. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandmother Charlene Lombard, Uncle Marc Amburgey and his dear "Auntie", Melody Amburgey Kirk.

Tyler's family would like to thank all of our family and friends who have provided such an outpouring of support during this difficult time.  Your kindness and prayers have helped to bring a bit of peace and healing to our days and we cannot thank you enough.
