Willie Earl
Martin
Apr 7, 1924 — Sep 16, 2025
Garland
Willie Earl Martin, born on April 7, 1924, in Picayune, MS, departed this life on September 16, 2025, at the age of 101. He was preceded in death by his mother Cordelia Fleming, sister Joyce Bandy, wife Alice Martin, and daughter Linda Martin. He is survived by children Susie Tristan, Mary Ann Martin, and Robert Martin, grandchildren Jason Brooks, Salomon Tristan, Jennifer Tristan, and Melody Henry, a number of great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
Willie and Alice met while he was attending, and she was working at the University of Arkansas when he asked to sit with her during lunch. They got married a short time later there in Fayetteville. Willie and Alice enjoyed spending time together with friends, such as going to the Garland square on the weekends to listen to live music and going to McDonald's for breakfast daily with others. For many years, they went on trips to Arkansas, Mississippi, and Florida with family. Their family loved them very much, and spending time with them was special for all.
Willie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, served in World War II, and completed his service honorably as a Sergeant and Rifle Sharpshooter. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. After earning his degree, he worked in defense contracting and retired from E-Systems in Garland, Texas.
Willie will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, for his technical and mathematical aptitude, his ingenuity, and for his love of working on projects around the house.
