In loving memory of Wayne Wendell Pevehouse

August 29, 1927 – October 8, 2024

Wayne was born in Frost, Texas to William Franklin and Jessie Estella Pevehouse, grew up in the Baptist Church in Raleigh, Texas. He graduated from Blooming Grove High School, joined the United States Army and upon his return, married the love of his life, Peggy Jean Pevehouse. They had 3 children, Reta Pevehouse Brown, Rick Pevehouse and Phyllis Pevehouse Peters. Wayne and Peggy lived in Whitney then Milford, Franklyn, Chilton, Glen Rose and Garland where they lived for 69 years before moving to Holly Lake Ranch, Texas with their daughter and son-in-law.

Wayne served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. Upon his return home, he worked for General Telephone from December 1947, which later became GTE, until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Optimist Club and enjoyed the camaraderie of being with friends while selling Christmas trees and cooked chickens every year for their big fundraiser. Wayne was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and watching golf as well as playing dominoes and cards with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Franklin Pevehouse, his mother, Jessie Estella Reeves Pevehouse, his brothers, Gerald Pevehouse Sr. and his wife, Mary Frances Burks Pevehouse and Infant Pevehouse (brother), his sisters, Betty Jo Nielsen, Winnie Faye Winder, Jewell Maurine Barrett and her husband, Lloyed Barrett, Wanda Jean Pevehouse, his nephew, Gerald Pevehouse, Jr., his niece Mary Beth Kitchens and Son-in-Law, Michael Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Peggy Jean Owen Pevehouse, children Reta Brown, Rick Pevehouse and his wife, Marti Pevehouse, Phyllis Peters and her husband, Rick Peters, his Grandchildren, Amber Goodwin, Shane Peters and his wife Josie Peters, Ryan Pevehouse and his wife Emily Pevehouse, Kelly Barnes and her husband Blake Barnes, Jeff Pevehouse and Robyn Keating. Great Grandchildren include Lake Keating, Paige Stavenhagen, Jenna Stavenhagen, Morgan Pevehouse, Cheyanne Foster, Jayden Peters, Jaxon Peters, Awgust Pevehouse, Ryan Pevehouse Jr. and Rein Pevehouse and several other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation in Wayne's memory to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.
