VIRGINIA LEWIS HARPER

Virginia Finetta Lewis Harper was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on May 16, 1934 and peacefully passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 in Austin, Texas surrounded by family. While fighting an infection in her colon, Virginia clearly expressed in her final days how at peace and comforted she was by the fact that she was on her way to Heaven and would soon be without pain and reunited with loved ones who preceded her in death.

Virginia, lovingly known by family and friends as Ginny, grew up in Garland, Texas and graduated with honors from Garland High School where she was head cheerleader. Ginny was a superb painter and a stellar tennis and basketball player which led to her induction into the Garland Sports Hall of Fame. As a business owner, Ginny managed Harper Printing Company in downtown Garland and was very active in her local community on numerous committees and philanthropic organizations throughout her years in Garland, Texas.

Those of us that knew Ginny had the true blessing and honor to know her, for her effortless love for life, her family and friends.

Socially, Ginny enjoyed being a member of two bridge clubs, playing poker with friends, going to Vegas, dancing, reading books, trips to the beach and avidly loved spending time outdoors in the warm sun!

Ginny is preceded in death by her parents, Herschel Lewis and Beatrice Abbott, her late husband, Herschel Harper, Jr., her long-time life partner, Coach Russell Coffee, her in-laws, Herschel Harper Sr. and Leta Harper, her brother in law Bobby Wynn and a son in law Dave Sigler. She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Harper Haynes; daughter, Vicki Sigler; granddaughter Leta York (husband Chris York); granddaughter Faith Ward (husband Jason Ward); Grandsons Joel and Josh Sigler; six great-grandchildren; Luke York, Lindsey York, Lola York, Cash Ward, Porter Ward and David Sigler; Sister Loretta Wynn and several nephews and nieces.

We greatly miss our sweet and precious Ginny, however, we rejoice knowing she is no longer in pain and has been freed from the constraints of her old body now that she's in Heaven… and that gives us a tremendous amount of peace! Her legacy as a loving, witty, spunky and charming woman will live on with us forever until we reunite with her again one day.

God has HIS sweet Angel Ginny with HIM now and we are so grateful for her new, pain-free life!
