Utha Jean Thornton, aged 98, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, in Sachse, Texas. Born on September 29, 1927, in Wichita Falls, Texas, she lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to her faith, family, and community.

Jean was married to Oda Melvin Thornton for an extraordinary 76 years—a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together they built a life rooted in faith and family values that spanned nearly eight decades.

A devoted mother, she is survived by her daughter Connie Wilson and son Edward Thornton. Her legacy continues through five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who carry forward the warmth and strength she so generously shared.

Jean was a faithful Christian who served her Baptist church with dedication. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir, sharing her love of scripture and music with generations of congregants. Her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life.
