Tommy Milam Weston was born on October 10, 1946, in Greenville, Texas, to Merle Becton Weston and Pattie Lou (Diercks) Weston. He passed away on April 28, 2025, in Richardson, Texas, at the age of 78.
Tommy graduated from Garland High School in 1965, where he was known as "Tommy M. (Overall) Weston."
He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Following his military service, Tommy dedicated 29 years to the Garland Fire Department, serving with distinction from 1972 until his retirement in 2001 at the rank of Captain. During his tenure, he served in the Operations Division for approximately 15 years, steadily rising through the ranks to Captain. He later transferred to the Fire Marshal's Office, where he quickly earned a reputation for his expertise in arson investigations. Tommy played a key role in solving several high profile arson fires over the course of his career. He was respected by his peers, known to be hard but fair and his unwavering commitment to public service.
Tommy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and competitive shooting. He also had a passion for baking, especially pies, which he often made at the fire station.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia L. Weston; son, Jared B. Weston and wife KiKi of Rowlett, Texas; daughter, Alicia L. (Weston)Brown and husband Kevin, also of Rowlett, Texas. He was a proud grandfather to Jared B. Weston Jr. and wife Maycie of Royse City, Texas; Kevin Weston Brown and wife Katherine of Rockwall, Texas; Kaitlynn V. Brown of Rowlett, Texas.; and Joshua B. Weston, also of Rowlett, Texas. In addition, he is survived by his stepson, Billy J. Freeman, and his wife, Rachel, as well as two step-grandchildren, Brylie and Riggs Freeman, all of White House, Tennessee. Nephews, Cody Collier and wife Brittany of Frisco, Texas , Clint Collier and wife Amal Said of Wylie, Texas and Niece Catie Collier of Royce City, Texas. Along with four great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Cheryl Lynn Weston and Alice Weston Collier; and his stepfather, Melton Lee Overall.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tommy's honor to Wreaths Across America, or The American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church Rowlett 5001 Main Street Rowlett, TX 75088
Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211
