Obituary

Teresa Ann Cave
August 7, 1948 – May 16, 2026

Teresa Ann Cave, 77, of Garland, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. Born on August 7, 1948, in Ennis, Texas, she grew up with a warm spirit and a deep love for family that would define every chapter of her life.

During her time as a twirler in the Ennis High School band, Teresa met the love her her life Bobby Martin Cave, marrying on June 10, 1966 and beginning a partnership that would span sixty years and weather every season of life. Together they made their home in Garland, Texas, where Teresa poured herself into her family, her faith, and her community.

Throughout her career, Teresa distinguished herself as a capable and dedicated professional. Together with Bobby, they owned several companies, demonstrating the resourcefulness and attention to detail that those who knew her recognized as hallmarks of her character. In later years, she and Bobby channeled their entrepreneurial spirit and love of travel into building and running a travel agency together — a fitting venture for a couple who understood that the best journeys are always shared. She and Bobby continued their adventures after retiring from the agency, continuing to travel the world with friends and family.

Faith was the foundation of Teresa's life. As a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church Richardson, she found community, purpose, and renewal in her congregation. She translated this love into joining the FUMC staff as part of the Welcoming Committee, greeting visitors and congregants alike on Sunday mornings with a smile and a hug and warmly welcoming them into the fold.

Above all, Teresa was a loving mother and wife, as trying to keep Bobby in line was a full-time job in itself.  As a mom, she sewed more costumes and sat through more sporting events than she probably ever imagined she would.  But come rain or shine, she was there for her kids and her grandson, who brought her indescribable joy. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Martin Cave; her son, Matthew Martin Cave, and his wife Amy; her daughter, Leah Elizabeth Russell, and her husband Bryan; her grandson, Benjamin Martin Cave; and her sister, Dorothy Louise Ponder, and her husband Jim. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lincoln and Teresa Elizabeth Winterrowd; her sister, June Brewer; and her brother, Charles Lincoln Winterrowd.

Teresa's warmth, her quiet strength, and her love for her family will be felt in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind not only those who grieve her passing, but a legacy of love that will endure.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to FUMC Richardson or the American Cancer Society.
