Obituary

Laura Suzanne Whatley, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on April 12, 2024, in Richardson, Texas, at the age of 64. She was born on September 17, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to John Lionel Stephens and Dorothy Louis Moss Stephens.

Suzanne's life was a testament to love, family, and kindness. She was a devoted wife, having been married to her husband Joseph Whatley for 29 years. Suzanne and Joseph shared a deep bond that served as the foundation of their family.

In addition to her husband, Suzanne is survived by her sister Sandy Lawton (Scott), sons John Jackson (Shaylin) and Jonathan Whatley(Rachel), and her beloved grandchildren Baylor Jackson, Chandler Jackson, Jude Whatley, and Gage Whatley. Family meant everything to Suzanne and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

Suzanne's parents, John Lionel Stephens and Dorothy Louis Stephens, preceded her in death. Their guiding presence is dearly missed, but their legacy of love and strength lives on in their family.

Suzanne had a passion for life that was reflected in her hobbies and interests. She found joy in working in the yard, cultivating beautiful gardens that bloomed with vibrant colors. Her green thumb was matched only by her love for spending time with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Suzanne's voice could often be heard soaring in the church choir, her passion for singing bringing light and harmony to those around her.

A memorial service will be held at Williams Funeral Directors in Garland, Texas on April 17 to honor and celebrate Suzanne's life, a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion. She will be remembered for her strong faith in Jesus, her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and the light she brought into the lives of all who knew her.

Suzanne's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and warmth she shared so generously during her time on earth.
