Susan Beth Roemen Merkel, age 62, of Rowlett, Texas, was born on June 26, 1962, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Raymond and Margaret Heesch Roemen. She entered her eternal rest on May 7, 2025, in Rowlett, Texas, surrounded by her family.

Susan attended Good Shepherd Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Lynch High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Texas and dedicated over 30 years of her professional career to Labcorp, where she was known for her reliability, warmth, and diligent work ethic.

She was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren, always ready to support them in their activities and life events. Susan's love was steady, strong, and endlessly giving. She cherished travel, creating precious memories with her family in Hawaii, London, Paris, Rome, and on an Alaskan cruise.

Even when facing her own struggles, Susan's compassion, strength, and kindness were unwavering. Her faith and love for the church were guiding forces throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering support.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Albert Merkel; daughters, Rebecca Burkhardt and husband, Thomas, Rachel Janovsky and husband, Stephen; sons, Albert John (AJ) Merkel and wife, Aubrey, Alexander (Alex) Merkel and his girlfriend, Emilee Peña; sisters, Lori Baumann and husband, John, Kathy Gordon and husband, Charles, Karen Polzer and husband, Tim; granddaughters, Eleanor and Maggie Burkhardt; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Shattles and Peggy Blaser; brothers-in-law, Jim Merkel and wife, Debbie, Don Merkel and wife, Cindy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margaret Roemen, brother, John Roemen, mother-in-law, Mary Jane Merkel, and father-in-law, Albert Anthony Merkel.

Funeral services will be held in Susan's honor at 11:00 AM Monday, May 19th at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Rockwall, TX, with interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, TX. The family will accept visitors from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Sunday, May 18th, at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, TX, with a rosary to begin at 7:00 PM.
