Obituary

Pastor Steven Douglas Smith was born on June 10, 1959, as the tenth child of twelve to the late David Smith, Sr., and Irene Williams Smith of Brinkley, AR. Pastor Stere was baptized at a young age. At the age of 12, Pastor Steve would often take up so much of the other kids' playtime by holding long-winded Bible studies and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. During his high school years, his outstanding basketball records remain unbroken and are still on the walls of his high school gym. When asked, "how he did it"? With a warm smile, he always gives God credit proudly. Of course, this would also lead to a discussion about the Bible. Pastor Steve was ordained and received his license in 1986 from the late Pastor J. L. Eades Sr. of Greater Providence Baptist Church in Dallas, TX.

Pastor Steve meets no strangers. No matter where you are, Pastor Steve's natural ability to draw you to the Gospel of Jesus and establish a lifelong relationship within the body of Christ, as well as within the community.  His love for people and desire for them to know Christ personally made him a powerful man of God. He enjoyed delivering sermons to the congregation, but his most effective ministry was one-on-one fellowship. Additionally, he enjoys working with individuals with special needs by creating a safe environment that allows them to reach their full potential, in addition to his work for the Kingdom. Pastor Steve had a strong love for academics. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bishop College. He continued to be a lifelong learner in the fields of Christianity, Politics, and Advocacy.  He is the founder of the Higher Dimensional Fellowship, established in 1995. His ministries include teaching and preaching to everyone, reminding them that the church is within us. Being the shepherd of God's children, he emphasized discipleship, worship, mission, fellowship, and evangelism. His legacy is left behind through the ministry of Higher Dimensional Fellowship, which addresses community needs and equips them with the Gospel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Smith Sr. and Irene Williams Smith,  one (1) daughter,  Faith Monique Smith; four (4) brothers: Harold Smith, David Smith Jr., Donald Smith, and Michael Smith; four (4) sisters: Berthella Carroll, Betty Brown, Gussie Gilchrest and Janeen Smith; He leaves to cherish his life and legacy his wife of 40 years, Doris Smith of  Garland, TX; one (1) son, Stephen Douglas Smith II of Garland, TX; three (3) daughters: Shakia Allen of Crowley, TX, Charity Smith of Garland, TX, and Hope Smith of Houston, TX; Big Papa's two (2) grandchildren: Nahla Renee Foster of Crowley, TX and Gabriel Liam Hambric of Garland,  TX; one (1) brother Ronnie (Tracy) Smith of  Ft.
