Shirley B. Dildy of Garland, Texas died peacefully on December 7, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born and raised in Morrilton, Arkansas. She attended what was then called, Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway, AR, and met and later married, Clifton Robert Dildy, Jr. now deceased. She is survived by daughters Jenna D. Jacobson of Frisco, Texas and Jan D. Perry of Alvin, Texas; also survived by a son Clifton R. Dildy, III of Roundrock, Texas. Oldest daughter, Linda D. Lopez died last September 2023. She has seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Her working career was spent in government service, most of it at the Dallas VA Hospital. Later in life she went back to college and received a B. S. Degree from Abilene Christian University's Metro Center in Garland. She retired from government service in 1986 as Chief of the Ward Administration Section.

After retirement she was restless and worked for Dan Dipert as a Tour Director, which she did for 4 years. And after our dad retired they both enjoyed traveling, including the Elderhostel Program. Our mom was an avid reader and bridge player. The following are some of the things her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren remember the most about her:

Individual salt & pepper bowls at each place setting

Bourbon and coke
Lots of shoes
She was a lady
Blue Bell peach ice cream
Reese's Peanut Butter Thins
Dried up candy in the formal living room
Not the best cook, but she was always looking for new recipes!

Burial of ashes will be at Garland Memorial Park, Garland, next to her husband, Clifton. There will be no formal service, only a family gathering in Frisco to remember her.
