Sherry Lynn
Burns Tucker
Dec 18, 1956 — Dec 8, 2023
Dallas
Born in Grapevine, Texas on December 18th 1956, Sherry Lynn Burns Tucker was welcomed into the world by her mother, Beverly Forshee, and her father, George Burns. As a child she spent much of her time with her Grandmother who worked at the local drug store and soda fountain. She would later move to Illinois to stay with her dad and stepmother where she served as an older sister and caretaker to her half brothers and sisters before moving back to Texas as a teenager.
She set out on her own quite early, living in her own apartment and working at the age of 15. As a young adult, she waitressed her way through nursing school and worked as an ICU nurse for many years.
Shan, as she was affectionately known, passed away peacefully at home and with family on December 8th, 2023, after a battle with terminal lung cancer. Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her half sister Teri. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her daughter, Rachel, and her half siblings, Alyssa and Marc.
Shan was a wonderful and caring mother and wife. She will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on December 16th, 2023, starting at 1pm and located at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, TX. We ask that those attending please not wear predominantly black as we are choosing to focus on the beauty of her life rather than the sadness of her death. Formal wear is also not necessary or expected.
