Ruth Ann Youngblood

September 14, 1937 - October 27, 2023

Ruth Ann Youngblood, 86, of Garland, Texas passed away October 27th, 2023, at her apartment in Christian Care Center Mesquite.  She was born September 14, 1937, in Cleburne, Texas to William Duke (Jack) Youngblood and Willie Geneva (Mathews) Youngblood and grew up on her parent's dairy farm in Rio Vista, Texas, the oldest of three children.  She attended North Texas State University where she obtained her bachelor's degree in education and later a master's degree in counseling.

She met her husband Jesse Youngblood at NTSU, and they were married on August 9th, 1958. With him she raised their two sons in Garland Texas where she lived most of her adult life. She had a successful career in education that began at W.W. Samuel High teaching math and ended as a counselor at South Garland High where she worked for 19 years.

Ruth liked to travel and had a passion for genealogy research. She helped chronicle many generations of Youngblood and Mathews ancestors in her retirement years.  Most of all, she loved being a mom and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse and her younger brother Charles.  Ruth is survived by her brother Billy Jack, her sons Blake and Brad, their wives Lynda and Lani and six grandchildren: Cassandra, Brock, Savannah, Brennan, Grace, and Lauren Youngblood.
