Ruth Carol Newhouse, of Garland, Texas, was born June 21, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to Joseph Francis Ice and Delores Kruse Ice, and passed away September 17, 2023 in Athens, Texas. She was a retired teacher who spent her years forming young minds in Garland ISD at Lakeview Centennial High School and Richland Community College. She married her late husband, Howard Newhouse on June 12, 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Newhouse and wife, Lea Anne of Kemp, Texas, Matthew Newhouse and wife, Amy of Royse City, Texas; granddaughters, Emma Newhouse of Kemp, Texas, Hayley Newhouse of Royse City, Texas, Alyson Newhouse of Royse City, Texas; sister, Mary Tabor of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brothers, Edward Ice of Louisville, Kentucky, Thomas Ice of Louisville, Kentucky; aunt, Marie Kruse of Louisville, Kentucky; uncles, Cletus Kruse of Louisville, Kentucky, Frank Kruse of Louisville Kentucky, and Lawrence Higgins of Louisville, Kentucky; and aunt, Aileen Higgins of Louisville, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Joseph Francis Ice; and her husband, Howard Newhouse.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in Williams Memorial Chapel, with interment to follow at DFW National Cemetery at 1:30PM. The family will accept visitors from 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
