Royce Eldon “Roy” Weedn, 80, of Garland, Texas, passed away on September 11, 2026.

Roy was born on November 26, 1945, in Duncan, Oklahoma, at Weedn Hospital, to Eldon and Bonnie Weedn, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Cyril, Oklahoma, where he spent much of his childhood helping his family on their farm. During his school years, Roy played multiple sports and participated in choir. He later attended Central State in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he earned a degree in business.

An entrepreneur throughout his life, Roy was never afraid of a new opportunity or a little hard work. Over the years, he owned and operated businesses in remodeling, sand and gravel distribution, real estate, and the car wash industry. His final business venture was RainTight Roofing.

At RainTight Roofing, Roy believed in giving his customers more than they expected. He expressed that philosophy through the company motto: “We strive to give a good measure: pressed down, shaken together and running over,” inspired by the words of Luke 6:38. It reflected both his approach to business and the importance of his faith and values in the way he treated others.

But Roy’s greatest joy and accomplishment was his family.

Roy and his former wife, Kay Weedn, shared many years raising their family together. He was a wonderful and devoted father who was deeply involved in the lives of all three of his children. Roy rarely missed a sporting event for any of his children and was especially involved in coaching and supporting Miller and Mitch as they grew up. He also made a special effort to create meaningful memories with his daughter, Sara, planning a special father-daughter date with her each year on her birthday. He especially loved children and babies, and that love extended far beyond his own family. Over the years, Roy helped care for and foster approximately 20 foster babies, giving them love and a safe place during an important time in their young lives.

Roy treasured being a Papaw and Poppi and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed playing with them and being part of their lives. He also loved fishing and the simple pleasure of being surrounded by the people he loved.

Roy is survived by his former wife, Kay Weedn; his children, Sara Beth Selby and her husband, Clay; Miller Tyson Weedn and his wife, Brittany; and Mitchell Clay Weedn. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Annalise Selby, Kate Selby, Davis Selby, Selah Weedn, and Dax Weedn; his brother, Alan Weedn, and Alan’s wife, Kathy; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service honoring Roy’s life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saturn Road Church of Christ. 3030 Saturn Rd Garland, TX

Roy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His love for his children and grandchildren, his heart for babies, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the many memories he created with those he loved will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
