Obituary

Roy W. Plumlee, 87, passed away peacefully in his home on April 24, 2025, in Terrell, Texas. Born on April 13, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, Roy lived a life marked by service, integrity, and unwavering dedication to his family and the values he held dear.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jefferies Plumlee, who married "the boy next door" 64 years ago. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Rebecca Schumacher and her husband David; his son Rip Plumlee and his wife Susan; grandchildren Sarah Kamer, Donna Blackstock, John Schumacher, James Schumacher, Hannah Lum, and Bennett Plumlee; as well as 14 cherished great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

Roy was the son of Roy Plumlee and Nell Willis Plumlee, both of whom preceded him in death. He carried forward their legacy with quiet strength and a steady presence that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Described by those closest to him as genuine, caring, sincere, trustworthy, and giving, Roy embodied these qualities throughout every chapter of his life.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Roy retired with the distinguished rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. His military career was both long and decorated, including honorable service during Desert Storm. He earned the rare distinction of being Double Distinguished in both pistol and rifle marksmanship—an achievement that reflected not only his skill but also his deep passion for firearms. That passion extended beyond his military service into his personal life; Roy found joy in anything related to firearms and was known among those close to him for his expertise and enthusiasm in this area.  He truly treasured his friends and fellow members of the Terrell Rifle & Pistol Club.

In his civilian life Roy was an Engineer. He traveled the globe for more than 25 years while working for Continental Electronics, but his favorite place to be was at home with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Terrell Rifle & Pistol Club located at 17405 County Road 345 in Terrell, Texas (75161).
