Obituary for Ronald A. Ostergard

Ronald Andre Ostergard was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 10, 1947. He passed away peacefully at home with his family after a lengthy illness on January 30, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Marjorie Ostergard, his parents-in-law, Clarence and Jean Hargis, and his younger brother Don Carl Ostergard.

He is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Donna Hargis Ostergard, their children, Carey Ostergard-Vincenti and husband Jimmy Vincenti, Grant Ostergard and Nichole Williams and granddaughter, Cora Ostergard. He is also survived by his younger brother, Chris Ostergard and his son Conner Ostergard.

Ron attended Schertz-Cibolo High School in Schertz, Texas and went on to get his Bachelors and Masters Degrees at East Texas State University, now Texas A&M Commerce where he was very active in the Baptist Student Union and met his wife, Donna.

After college, he served in the United States Air Force and then went on to become a home builder, a problem resolution representative for the IRS, and ended his working career as a contract specialist with the Defense Contract Management Agency at L3 in Greenville, Texas.

Ron was a man who never met a stranger. He was giving and cared deeply for his family and friends and would do anything he could to make their lives better. He delighted in spending time with his granddaughter, Cora. Watching the Texas Rangers or the A&M Aggies was his favorite pastime. He had a real gift of coaching and truly loved guiding his baseball boys all the way from little league through high school.

Ron is loved greatly and will be missed by many.
