Ronald Royce
Buchanan
Dec 10, 1955 — Jan 23, 2024
Garland
Ronald Royce Buchanan was born Dec 10, 1955 to Johnnie Bell
Noble Buchanan and CW "Buck" Buchanan. After fighting a long, hard
battle with Diabetes and Heart Disease, he passed from this life surrounded
by his family on Jan 23, 2024. He was 68 years old.
Ronny met Carla Adams at the Broadway Church of Christ (now
Centerville Road Church of Christ) where they both grew up. They married
on Jan 8, 1977. Together they had three sons, Steven Wade, Michael Ned
and Joshua Mark. Ronny loved life and loved people. Many would say that
he had an interesting sense of humor, but he only wanted to make people
smile.
Ronny was a skilled craftsman. Starting at the age of 10, he would
make baby doll clothes for his sister, Renda. He showed through the years
that he could build anything. While most people would slow down after a
heart surgery at the age of 54, he found that sitting around doing nothing
was not living. During the last six years of his life, he continued building.
Even though the doctors advised against it and his wife discouraged it,
Ronny built several porches, garages/sheds, rebuilt roofs, and helped to
renovate homes.
Ronny was a very hard worker. He truly believed Ecclesiastes 9:10
which says, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might." He
often helped his sons with renovations on their homes or working on their
vehicles. They would call and he would come running. He never hesitated
to lend a hand. He took great pleasure and found much joy in being able to
save them a little money. Ronny would help anyone. He had so many tools
and God-given talent, the combination of which he used to serve others.
Ronny loved sports, especially football and baseball. One of his
great joys was attending Rangers' games with his loving wife. He was so
happy to see the Texas Rangers win their first World Series.
Ronny lived to serve his God. Before moving to East Texas, Ronny
served as a deacon for 25 years at Broadway/Centerville Road church. At
his church home in Quinlan, he jumped right in to help the congregation.
He quickly became the church secretary. He was the church handyman and
grounds keeper. He was truly a worker for the Lord.
Ronny is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carla, his sons, Steven
Buchanan and wife Erin, Michael Buchanan and wife Wendy and Josh
Buchanan. He left this life with seven of the most beautiful granddaughters,
Tara Jo, Ashlyn Elizabeth, Julia Suzanne, Katelyn Grace, Matylin Moss,
Camryn Leigh and Emmalyn Rose and his one and only grandson, Mason
Daniel. He is also survived by his sister, Renda Hampton and his brother,
Ralph Buchanan and wife Linda, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Ronny was preceded in death by his father, C.W. Buchanan,
mother, Johnnie Buchanan, and brother, Randy Buchanan. He is leaving a
legacy of love and laughter, joy and tears. His presence in our lives will
truly be missed, but his legacy will live on through his children and
grandchildren.
