Roger Leland Womack was born January 19, 1949, in Nocona, Texas to Peggy Jean (Hankins) and Floyd L.V. Womack. He married Connie Lynn Hoelscher on February 23, 1985, in Houston, Texas. They began their life together in Garland, Texas, where they raised their two children, Chesley Elliott Womack and Jenna Marie Verity.

After graduating from high school, Roger moved to Plano, Texas with his first wife Beverly McNabb Reynolds, where he went to work in the foundry industry. They raised two children there, Kevin Lee Womack and Heather Dawn Simonds.

After leaving the foundry industry in 1993, Roger ran his own home repair business and grew a loyal client base due to his attention to detail. When not working, his hobbies were maintaining his beautiful yard and performing any necessary home repairs or projects himself. His favorite saying was, "I can fix anything from a broken heart to the break of day!" And that, he could. He was also the neighborhood watchdog, and everyone knew Roger was going to keep a keen eye on things.

Roger was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He grew up fishing, deer hunting, and bird hunting. He would recall how he could never sleep the night before his father took him on their annual deer hunting trip because he was so excited. He continued to be an avid hunter with Connie's father, brothers, and other close family members. Roger really enjoyed RV camping trips to the State Parks where he could hike, bike, fish, canoe, or just enjoy a campfire. He had a wealth of knowledge about all things outdoors and was more than happy to tell you about it! He instilled the love of hunting and appreciating nature in his children.

Another great joy in Roger's life was the time he spent playing bass guitar for the band 'The Mixed Review', comprised of brothers-in-law and family friends. The band played at various gigs and benefits in the Walker County area, but the informal Huntsville bunkhouse pickins were the best! The band even recorded a CD. Roger was so proud to be a member of the band and play alongside his family and closest friends.

Roger was a 32° Scottish Rite Mason and a former member of the Hella Shrine and Garland Masonic Lodge #441. He was also very proud of these accomplishments, having followed in his father's footsteps.

Roger passed away at Methodist Hospital Richardson on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, after a long hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John Floyd Womack and Jimmy Lynn Womack, and a grandson, Grayson Michael Simonds.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Connie Lynn Womack. He is also survived by his 4 children and their spouses: Kevin Lee Womack and wife Krissy, Heather Dawn Simonds and husband Mike, Chesley Elliott Womack and wife Jody, Jenna Marie Verity and husband John; 10 grandchildren: Bailey Simonds and wife Kristina, Tyler Womack and fiancée Rikki, Kallie Womack, Kaitlynn Womack, Liam Waggoner, Ella Verity, Maverick Womack, Blakely  Verity, Tripp Womack, and Mace Verity; 2 great-grandchildren: Logan Simonds and Evelyn Simonds; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and special family friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the First Baptist Church of Garland, 801 W. Avenue D, Garland, Texas 75040, 972-276-7194. A reception will be held immediately afterwards in the McDonald Activity Center.
