Robert (Bob) Warren, 93 years young, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in Waco, TX. Bob was born, weighing only a pound, in Houston on September 20, 1929, just 29 days before the Wall Street Market Crash, which catapulted our country into the Great Depression.

Bob had what he called an "idyllic" childhood growing up in Atlanta, TX where he enjoyed carefree times of playing with friends, playing baseball, riding bikes, swimming, and hunting. There was only one swimming pool in Atlanta, and he was their only lifeguard, so things worked out.  Boy Scouts were still a somewhat new-fangled idea in the Depression, but Bob earned the prestigious Eagle Scout Award, and enjoyed all that scouting offered him in those early years both in Atlanta and at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Later, during fatherhood, he was Scout Master while enjoying teaching his son and other boys' skills they would use throughout their lives.

After graduating from Atlanta High School, Bob attended and graduated from Texas Technological College (now known as Texas Tech University in Lubbock) with a Bachelors' degree in Architecture. After graduating, he served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War, on the island of Iwo Jima, rebuilding the USAF Base not once, but twice, after devastating typhoon damage. After military discharge, Bob began working for the US General Services Administration as a Project and Design Manager, where he was instrumental in building federal facilities such as post offices, courthouses, Border Patrol Stations, and more. His crowning career achievement was designing and building the federal building and adjoining federal courthouse in San Antonio which was the United States Pavillion during the 1968 HemisFair. Bob retired from the government after 40 years of an enjoyable career.

Bob met his future bride, Jamie Lou Kellar of Kilgore, TX through a mutual friend. He proposed to Jamie at Dallas' beloved Campisi's restaurant over a plate of Italian carbs. They were married several months later at First Baptish Church in Kilgore on September 1957. After a short time living in Weslaco, TX for work, they moved to Garland, TX where they would reside the rest of their lives. Interestingly, both Bob and Jamie were only children, and they had one child, Mark, born in 1959.

Until poor health prevented him from being active, Bob was a member of First Baptist church in Garland. He served as deacon for many years as well as a Sunday School Director. Bob also enjoyed helping the less fortunate through his church's Friendship House. He thoroughly enjoyed being with his longtime church friends. He was a kind man who would help others in whatever way he could. He played golf well into age 90. He was also an avid reader and kept up with current events. He loved ordering books off Amazon, and all Amazon drivers knew by heart how to get to his house. After he turned 90, he began a hobby of diamond painting which consists of carefully placing teeny tiny colored beads (using tweezers and a well- lit area) onto a pre stamped canvas.  He created several of these beautiful pictures, which he had proudly framed for loved ones. At age 93, he had eye site to be envied.

Bob is survived by his son Mark and daughter-in-law, Tonya of Woodway and his grandson John, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and granddaughter, Sarah, of Billings, Montana.
