Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Robert Stricklin

Robert Edward Stricklin, 71, of  Garland, Texas, passed away on November 22nd, 2022.

He was born July 5th, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas to Don and Margaret Stricklin. Robert graduated from South Garland High School in 1969. He was married to Paula for 45 years.  Together, they built a beautiful life that including traveling, pool parties, and supporting their children in various activities.

Robert worked for many years in the tire and automotive industry. He owned and operated A&B Tire & Automotive in Greenville, Texas for nearly 20 years. While working in Greenville, he was very active in the Rotary Club and even served as President. In recent years, he drove a school bus for Garland ISD, but his favorite thing about it was driving his oldest grandson, Easton, to and from school everyday.

He will be remembered as a larger-than-life man, though he preferred to go without recognition. He had a presence wherever he went, no doubt. He enjoyed coaching his son in football and baseball, spending time at the deer lease, and watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He was "one of the good ones," a real family man. He worked hard to not only provide for and protect his family, but made sure everyone was happy, even at his own expense.

As much as he loved his wife and children, he loved his grandkids exponentially more. They were his pride and joy and there is no doubt that anyone who knew him heard him speak with true affection about them. And the adoration went both ways. Pops was surely a favorite person for each grandchild. As one grandson said, "There will never be another 'Pops.'"

Robert is survived by his wife, Paula, his children, Ashlee (m. Chase) and Bubba (m. Paige), his grandchildren Easton, Abel, Rhett, Betty and Evelyn, as well as nieces and nephews.  There are also countless people who he made a lifelong impact on.

A celebration of Robert's life will take place on Saturday, November 26th at South Garland Baptist Church at 1 PM.
