Robert Lewis
Messenger Ii
Apr 5, 1953 — Dec 8, 2023
Garland
In Loving Memory of Robert Lewis Messenger II.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Rob, who departed from us on December 8th, 2023. He was taken suddenly, but thankfully, peacefully in his sleep. Rob was a true pillar of strength, a man who epitomized the virtues of hard work, unconditional support, love, and understanding.
He was born on April 5, 1953, in West Virginia to Barbara and Bob Messenger. Growing up in Lewisville he was very much into sports. He loved football, was the Fighting Farmer's "Barefoot Kicker", and held the record for Single Season Receptions for many years. He then received a scholarship from what is now Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He loved playing in Durant until a devastating knee injury ended his football career.
Years later Rob married and had 2 beautiful children. As a father, Rob was a beacon of guidance and love. He cherished his role as a parent and embraced every moment spent with his children, nurturing them with kindness, patience, and understanding.
This same dedication to his family was carried over to his work. He tirelessly pursued his career to support his family. He was a loyal employee and stayed with Fujitsu from 1988 until his retirement in 2016.
Beyond his accomplishments, Rob's warm heart and genuine spirit endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His ability to listen without judgment and offer a compassionate shoulder to lean on made him a trusted confidant and friend.
Rob is survived by his wife, Cat, and his children Luke (Samantha) and Jaime. His grandchildren Ashlyne, Carmen, Alexander and Lincoln. His sisters Patty(Troy) and Nancy(Rey). Their children Mason and Megan, along with their spouses and children. He was a loving brother-in-law to Debbie and Dave. A beloved uncle to Chrystal, Jessica and Jon, along with their spouses and children. Les and Karen and their son.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 20th, 3:30 pm, at Williams Funeral Directors. 1600 S Garland Ave , Garland, Tx 75040.
