Richard Paul Rogers

Richard Paul Rogers passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at his home he shared with his beloved life partner Terrie Campbell in Garland, Texas. He was 81 years old.

Born on March 23, 1944, Richard was the son of Paul L. Rogers and Marion (Johnson) Rogers. From an early age, he showed a keen intellect and a curiosity about how things worked—traits that would guide him throughout his life.

Richard pursued higher education with dedication and distinction, earning a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Never one to stop learning, he later obtained an MBA from the University of Dallas, blending technical expertise with business insight which contributed to a successful 40- year professional career.

Service to others was a defining part of Richard's life. He generously gave his time and talents to numerous community and volunteer organizations, including Bible Study at First Garland Baptist Church, the March of Dimes, JDF, the Richardson Wildflower Festival, the Shakespeare Festival, and Meals on Wheels. His commitment and welcoming presence made a lasting impact wherever he served.

After retirement, Richard embraced life with renewed enthusiasm and discovered two great passions with Terrie at his side. He became deeply involved in line dancing—as a dancer, instructor, and choreographer. Known for his welcoming spirit, Richard partnered with fellow instructors to host workshops and ensured that everyone who stepped onto the dance floor felt included and encouraged. He also found great joy in the Lone Star Miata Club, where he delighted in driving his car, hosting events, and sharing camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts of all Miata models and generations.

Above all, Richard will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and genuine kindness. He had a gift for making people feel seen and valued, whether through shared service, music and movement, or a simple conversation.

Richard is survived by his beloved soul mate and caregiver, Terrie Campbell; his sister Nancy Gertig, brother Doug Rogers, his daughters, Joanna (Mark) Johnson and Diane (Paul) Barriere; and his cherished grandchild, Jack Barriere. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, joy, and connection that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
