GARLAND
Rhonda Lewis, 71, of Garland, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2023. She was born to proud parents Genevieve and R.B. Ewing in Dallas, Texas on December 4, 1951.
Rhonda graduated from Carter High School in Dallas, and then went on to earn her bachelor's degree from East Texas University, preparing her for a long career in education. She taught government, economics, and various other AP classes at Garland and South Garland High School as well as Coached the cheer team at both schools. She had a servant's heart and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Garland, where she worked in the church nursery and welcome center. In her spare time, Rhonda enjoyed reading, government, traveling, and spending time on the beach. Rhonda's passing leaves a void in many lives, but her legacy of giving and teaching others will live on in the hearts off all who had the honor of knowing her.
Rhonda is survived by her husband; Jim Lewis, her daughters; Ashley Gray and husband Doug, Megan Williams and husband Aron, her grandchildren; Madison Gray, Cooper Gray, and Nash Williams, Sisters; Kathryn Lay and husband Bill, Delores Fineske and husband Gary, brother-in-law; David Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.B. and Virgie Ewing.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Rhonda's life at First Baptist Church of Garland on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Services will be officiated by Dr. Greg Ammons.
