Rene Cortez, age 62 of Dallas, passed away at his residence on Thursday, March 21, 2025. He was born on September 25, 1962.

Rene is preceded in death by his parents; Raul Cortez, Sr. & Rachel Loya Cortez, and his brothers; Ricardo and Johnny Cortez. He is survived by his daughters; Kristen Landers (spouse Jessie), Danielle Bauman, and Alyssa Moore (spouse Hunter), his grandchildren, Brooke & Nina Nicole Landers and Maverick & Meadow Moore, siblings; Reyes Cortez, (spouse Mary), Loly Layton (spouse Tony), and Raul Cortez, Jr. (spouse Bertha) and numerous nephews & nieces.

Rene graduated from Lyford High School in 1982. He was a member of the high school band (saxophone) and football team.  He attended Texas State Technical Institute in Harlingen and received certification for electrical engineering. He enjoyed playing pool, jogging and walking his dogs.
