Rebecca
Martinez
Jun 29, 1951 — Apr 1, 2026
Rebecca "Beckie" Martinez, 74, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2026, in Rowlett, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 29, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, to Enrique and Velia Martinez. Beckie was one of eleven children and the youngest of her sisters.
Beckie graduated from El Paso Technical High School in 1969, where she served as editor-in-chief of the yearbook during her senior year and studied cosmetology. Following high school, she worked as a machine operator for Farah Manufacturing from 1971 to 1990 and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing & Textile Workers Union. Following her time at Farah, Beckie attended El Paso Community College to study secretarial skills. She later served as a secretary for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 231 from 1992 to 2005, and worked briefly at Echostar before retiring in 2007.
In June 1973, Rebecca married Agustin Saucedo. Though their marriage lasted ten years, it brought her greatest joy: her only child, Veronica, born in June 1978.
Beckie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She split her time between El Paso and the Dallas area to attend her grandkids' school events, holidays, birthdays, and other milestones. She poured into their lives by praying with them and reading the Bible together.
A kingdom-minded woman of faith and a true prayer warrior, Rebecca served her home church, El Paso 1st Assembly of God, as well as her "church away from home," First at Firewheel in Garland, TX. From Vacation Bible School and Trunk-or-Treats to women's events and teaching Sunday school, she helped wherever there was a need. Although she is missed terribly, her family takes comfort in knowing she is in the presence of her Savior, and that her legacy of faith will live on through her daughter and grandchildren.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique Martinez Sr. and Velia Garcia Martinez, and her brothers, Fernando ("Fernie"), Enrique ("Ricky") Jr., Ricardo ("Richard"), and Rodolfo ("Rudy") Martinez.
She is survived by her daughter, Veronica Saucedo Esparza, and son-in-law, Johnnie Esparza; her cherished grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Matthew, Abigail, and Benjamin Esparza; her brothers, Eduardo ("Eddie") Martinez and his wife Judy, Remigio ("Ramy") Martinez and his wife Lisa, Federico ("Freddie") Martinez and his wife Terri, and Saul Martinez; and her sisters, Olga Fox and her husband Lenard (Lenny), and Arminda Lozano and her husband Jesus ("Jesse") and sisters-in-law Maria Elena (Nena) Martinez and Lucy Martinez. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
