Raymond Gerald Payton, 93, son of Gracie Burkard and Carl (Slim) Payton, was born in Rowlett, Texas, September 18th, 1929. He passed away peacefully on February 16th 2023, with his loving wife at his bedside. He was a graduate of Garland High School, Class of 1946. He was a Korean War Veteran, SFC 1951-1952. He married his loving wife, Neva Rogers on December 31st, 1953, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He retired from Kraft Foods after 35 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Neva; daughter June Payton Kirksey and husband, Kevin Kirksey, SR.; two grandsons, Kevin Kirksey, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, and Dee Daniel; granddaughter, Delaina Daniel Smith, husband, Johnny; three great-grandchildren, Kevin Kirksey III, Clark Kirksey, and Aven Smith; sister Anna Payton Dewberry; Son-In-Law Russell Daniel; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Payton Daniel; and his sister, Hilda Payton Fraiser. He had a deep love for his family and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, March 11th in Williams Memorial Chapel with Monsignor Don Fisher officiating. There will be a rosary and visiting hours starting an hour prior to the service, at 12:00PM.
