Rafael Diaz was born on August 14, 1944, in the Dominican Republic, and passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, surrounded by love.

He was a man of quiet strength and deep heart — someone whose laughter filled a room, whose presence made you feel seen, and whose love was steady and true. After making the brave journey from his island home to New York, Rafael built a life rooted in hard work, family, and joy.

He had a gift for turning ordinary moments into memories. Whether cracking a joke over dinner or saying "esto le falta sal" at the first bite, he brought light and laughter to those around him.

Rafael found peace in life's simplest pleasures — fishing at dawn, dancing to música típica, and savoring a good plate surrounded by his family. But perhaps nowhere did he feel more himself than by the beach or the río, where the breeze reminded him of home and the water washed all worries away.

He was a loving husband, a proud father of three, a cherished grandfather of eight, and a gentle great-grandfather of six. His family was everything to him — his reason, his rhythm, his joy.

Rafael is survived by his beloved wife, his three children, five of his siblings, and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward.

He leaves behind more than memories. He leaves warmth, laughter, and a love that will live on in every ocean wave, every river's flow, and every Sunday gathering where music plays just a little too loud — the way he liked it.

And though he may no longer be seen, Rafael will continue to live through his loved ones — in the way they laugh, in the food they share, in the strength they carry, and in the stories they tell. He lives in all of us now.

Rafael Diaz nació el 14 de agosto de 1944 en la República Dominicana, y partió en paz el 7 de julio de 2025, rodeado de amor.

Fue un hombre de fuerza tranquila y corazón profundo — alguien cuya risa llenaba el lugar, cuya presencia hacía sentir visto, y cuyo amor era constante y sincero. Tras hacer el valiente viaje desde su isla natal a Nueva York, Rafael construyó una vida arraigada en el trabajo, la familia y la alegría.

Tenía el don de convertir lo cotidiano en recuerdo. Ya fuera con un chiste en la mesa o diciendo "esto le falta sal" al primer bocado, siempre traía luz y sonrisa a su alrededor.

Rafael encontraba paz en los placeres más simples — pescar al amanecer, bailar música típica, y disfrutar de un buen plato rodeado de su familia. Pero quizás, donde más se sentía él mismo era en la playa o junto al río, donde la brisa le recordaba su tierra y el agua se llevaba cualquier preocupación.

Fue un esposo amoroso, un padre orgulloso de tres hijos, un abuelo querido de ocho nietos y un tierno bisabuelo de seis. Su familia era todo para él — su razón, su ritmo y su alegría.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, sus tres hijos, cinco de sus hermanos, y los muchos nietos y bisnietos que continuarán su legado.

Rafael no deja solo recuerdos. Deja calidez, risas y un amor que vivirá en cada ola del mar, en cada corriente del río, y en cada reunión familiar donde la música suene un poquito más alto — como a él le gustaba.

Y aunque ya no se le pueda ver, Rafael seguirá viviendo en sus seres queridos — en sus risas, en los platos que comparten, en la fortaleza que llevan, y en cada historia contada. Ahora, él vive en todos nosotros.
