Obituary

Paul "Cookie" Hubbard, 84, of Royse City, Texas entered into the presence of the Lord on Thursday morning, March 26, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is free of pain and in Heaven with Jesus.

He was born on May 3, 1941, in Silver Lake, Texas to Edward A. Hubbard and Opal Lee Martin. He married his loving wife Patricia (Tracy) on April 16, 1971, in Rockwall, Texas and would have celebrated 55 years of marriage next month. They resided in Garland, Texas for 48 years before moving to Royse City in 2019 to be closer to family and he got the workshop he always dreamed of.

Paul was hard working and began working at an early age with the death of his father when he was 12. His last profession was as a body shop  paint and repair specialist at many shops and dealerships over the years where he made lifelong friendships. He had a servant's heart and would help with anything for anyone. This included family, his church, friends and neighbors. Paul never met a stranger. If he sat down beside you, he would know your life history before you parted ways. He stopped every veteran he identified to thank them for their service and welcome them home.

Paul loved God, his family, his church family and friends. He enjoyed being outside all day and all things involving racing. NHRA, NASCAR, the Texas Rangers, Texas Longhorns, Western and War movies. He was a loving and devoted husband, Dad and a proud Papaw to his grandchildren. He proudly served in the US Army from 1967-1968 and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. After his honorable discharge, he served in the Reserves until 1973.

In his early years, he drove Sprint cars at dirt tracks then switched driving his "Tracy A" race car at numerous Drag and Bracket racing tracks winning numerous championships and trophies. In this new hobby, he included his family and friends as his Pit crew Paul then switched to Woodworking. He made numerous items for the Texas Rangers, family, friends and his church.

The family would like to thank the angels here on earth who provided such loving care, support and concern to Paul and our family. To Susan, who provided loving support to lead us to Hope Health Care. Our loving caregivers and nurses LaQuinta, Lyndsey, Cathy, Ashley, Kaylee, and Penney. Our thanks also to our Church family and my Bible study group for all your loving support, concern, calls, texts, and cards over the past months.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Patricia (Tracy) Hubbard and his beloved children Brian Hubbard (Kate) and Carrie Carlisle (Scott). He was a beloved Papaw to his grandchildren Austin, Hayden, Carter, Allison (Thomas), Drew and Peyton.  Sister-in-laws Bobbie Roberson (JR), Bobbie Hubbard, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and his beloved dog Sadie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, brothers Allen and Dwain.

Though we are heart broken and grieve his absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and assurance he is at peace and free of pain and we will See Him on the Other side.
