On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Paul Sidney Hauck Sr., age 85, of Garland, Texas, peacefully returned to his Lord and Savior, reuniting with cherished family members who had passed before him.

Born on December 17, 1939, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Carl and Doris Hauck, Paul had an early fascination with electronics and trains. His natural aptitude for technology blossomed in childhood, marking the beginning of a lifelong passion for all things electrical. He was known for his hobbies, which included working on trains, A/C systems, radios, and computers. Many remember him for his ability to fix almost anything—whether at school or at home—and his fondness for shortwave radios, which he enjoyed alongside his brother Carl Jr. One of his treasured memories was riding the B&O Railroad to Harpers Ferry in West Virginia.

Paul was a sergeant in the Civil Air Patrol, where he participated in search and rescue missions, and later pursued engineering technology at a technical school in Kansas City, Kansas. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1966, a decision that shaped his faith and service throughout his life. His career included working at Texas Instruments and serving in the U.S. Army's Night Vision program and his Hauck-I A/C and Heating company.

Paul's love extended to his family, church, and community. As a devoted father to nine children, he created meaningful traditions, such as father-son campouts and hiking adventures with his sons and grandsons. His church service included roles as a cleaning coordinator, librarian, and Boy Scout leader, and he contributed to the construction of the LDS Dallas Temple. His mechanical skills were on full display while volunteering with the McKinney Avenue Trolley, installing air conditioning in renovated trolley cars and giving train rides to his younger children.

Paul's kindness touched many lives. He supported his sons Eric and Peter, who lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and his wife LouAnn, as they faced health challenges. He also volunteered at Muscular Dystrophy camps and proudly videotaped his daughters Arleena and Shanette during their marching band performances. His suspenders, white beard, and trusty video camera became his signature look.

Paul had a genuine love for people, which shone through his conversations, even when he humorously apologized for what he called "diarrhea of the mouth." He appreciated the human connection in everyday errands, choosing to pay bills in person rather than online for the joy of interacting with others.

As he grew older, Paul found strength and guidance in the scripture James 1:5, his steadfast workhorse for facing life's challenges. His legacy is one of warmth, generosity, and a remarkable ability to make every encounter meaningful.

Paul Hauck Sr. was a loving husband to his sweetheart LouAnn Hirschi Hauck of 50 years, who preceded him in death, and his sons Peter and Eric Hauck, daughter in law Coral Hauck, and his brothers Carl Jr. Hauck and John Hauck, and his parents Carl Sr Hauck and Doris Boley Hauck and many other family and friends before him.

Paul Hauck lives on through his 7 children and their families.  Paul Hauck Jr., Carey Hauck Sr, Robert Hauck, Daniel Hauck Sr., David Hauck Sr., Shanette Hauck Richins, Arleena Hauck Campbell, and Families.

Paul's family invites all who knew him to celebrate the life of a man who lived with faith, humility, and an endless capacity to help others.
