Pascual Bailon Valle, affectionately known as Pappy or Pascal, was born on May 17, 1931, in Garland, Texas, to Garland pioneers Manuel and Maria Valle. He was the last surviving member of the Valle family's eight children, and with his passing, Garland lost one of its most beloved and celebrated sons.

Pascual was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson.  In addition, he was an outstanding alumnus of Garland High School, where, in 1949, he became Garland's first All-State football player — a milestone that announced his exceptional football talent to the entire state of Texas. Beyond sports, he was also a favorite among his peers, honored with awards such as Valentine King, Most Handsome, and captain of his football team. He graduated in 1950 and continued his athletic career at Henderson Jr. College and then East Texas State College, now East Texas A&M University, where he lettered in both football and track. He was a proud member of the Garland Sports Hall of Fame and the 1952 East Texas Football Hall of Fame Team. In 2023, the Garland High School Alumni Association honored him with its Distinguished Alumni Award.

Service to country was very important to the Valle family, as all six brothers proudly served in the armed forces during World War II, the Korean War, and the Lebanon Crisis. While at East Texas State, Pascual was a member of the Air Force ROTC program. He also served in the Reserve Marine Fighter Squadron VMF-111 from 1949 to 1953. He interrupted his studies to serve two years in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955, returning afterward to complete his degree. He graduated from East Texas State in 1958.

On July 3, 1960, Pascual married Sylvia Alicia Ramirez in Laredo, Texas. They were blessed with two children, six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage, building a family and a life rooted in love, faith, and community.

After college, Pascual worked at Kraft Foods for 35 years, where he served as a junior chemist in Quality Control and later as supervisor of the Salad Department. He always wanted to be a coach, so he dedicated many years to volunteering in the community through youth football, basketball, and baseball programs.

Beyond his athletic, military, and professional achievements, Pascual was deeply committed to the Garland community. He served as a member of the Police Chief's Advisory Board, a member of the Garland Hispanic Association of Hispanic Affairs, and a historian speaker for the Garland Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. He was also a proud member of the Garland Sports Hall of Fame alongside his son, Tony.

The Valle family's contributions to Garland have been formally recognized on multiple occasions. In 2014, the Garland Independent School District rededicated its Student Service Center in honor of Garland's first Hispanic family, renaming it the Manuel & Maria Valle Student Service Center. Further recognition came in May 2023, when a Historical Marker was unveiled at the Valle family's former homestead at the corner of Avenue C and Santa Fe, commemorating their arrival in Garland in 1929. As the last surviving member of his pioneering family, Pascual carried this legacy with immense pride.

He is remembered lovingly by his grandchildren for teaching them how to swim, dive, and stay safe in the water. They remember his breakfasts with smiley-faced toast, traveling, camping out, and fun vacation trips to Washington, D.C., Memphis, and several trips to Disney World. Many remember his garden full of random hot peppers that he grew for his homemade hot sauce and how he taught the next generation to grill, make salsa, and cook his tasty beans. Most of all, they remember his passion for capturing moments with his camera, taking pictures and videos that became a treasured collection of family memories. His favorite time of year was Christmas Eve with the entire family, when everyone gathered to eat homemade food, play games such as Bingo, exchange gifts, joke around, and tell stories.

In his later years, one of Pascual's greatest joys was golfing with his senior friends at Firewheel Golf Course, where he recorded a hole-in-one on the 12th hole of the Lakes Course. Being a competitor, he captured the moment perfectly: "You're never too old to set records."

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia; daughter Leticia; son Tony and Tony's wife, Montra; and six grandchildren: Aric (Lauren), Alyssa (Shane), Tierney (Forrest), Cassie (Caleb), Cameron (Beatriz), and Christen. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren: Aubree, Kaiden, Stella, Blake, Jasper, Dex, Logan, Hazel, Forrest, and Callan, as well as many close relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Maria Valle, and his eight siblings: Manuel (Jan), Joaquin (Vickie), Jesus (Vera), Jose (Janie), Luis, Lupe (Robert), and Eugenia (Louis), along with many beloved relatives and friends.

Pascual's philosophy in life was that you can do anything when you tell yourself that you can. He faced many obstacles throughout his life — poverty, discrimination, and the challenges of being a minority — but he never once quit. Instead, he transformed every hardship into fuel to excel. He knew what it was like to struggle, and that knowledge made him a fierce advocate for others.

Pascual Valle was a true role model for his community and for future generations — a man who set records on the football field, in the classroom, in the military, and in life itself.
