Oren Merritt Peacock, Jr., 87, of Sachse, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2026. To know Oren was to know strength, steadiness, humility, and a quiet humor that could soften even the hardest day. He was a man who lived with purpose, led with integrity, and loved without condition.

Oren was born on March 29, 1938, in Waco, Texas, to Oren "Tax" Peacock, Sr. and Dorris Frey Dyer Peacock. He grew up surrounded by a large and lively family, with fields to roam, animals to raise, and stories that shaped him into the man he became. He often said his childhood taught him everything that truly mattered: how to work hard, how to show up for family, how to make your way in the world with what you have, and how to laugh no matter what life hands you. He lived those values every day of his life.

Oren graduated from Waco High School in 1956 and went on to earn his degree from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. What began as a soda jerk job in high school grew into a profession he deeply loved, not because of the titles he would later earn, but because of the people he served.

Over the decades, Oren's career took him from a young pharmacist behind the counter to Senior Vice President of Operations for Eckerd Drug Corporation and later Vice President and Director of Government Affairs for CVS, representing fourteen states. He helped guide the company through major transitions, mergers, and national growth. Through all of it, he remained the same grounded man from North Waco who restocked the toilet paper when no one asked and believed you should always do more than expected.

Oren also served his community with a full heart. He spent nine years as President of the Lorena ISD School Board, helping build new facilities and strengthening the district his family loved. He was appointed twice to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, serving two terms as President. Nationally, he served as President and later Chairman of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, helping shape the profession for pharmacists across the country.

Beyond his public service, Oren quietly and generously helped many people further their education. Whether through guidance, encouragement, or direct support, he believed deeply in opening doors for others and giving them the same opportunity he was blessed to receive.

Even with all these accomplishments, Oren always said the titles he valued most were the ones given to him by family. He was known and loved as Dad, Papa, Papa-O, and Uncle-O, roles he cherished more than anything.

He married Elizabeth Warren Robinson on August 1, 1967, and together they built a life full of grit, laughter, faith, and stories that will be retold for generations. They raised three sons, Mark, Steve, and Matt, who were the pride of his heart. Oren cherished every moment with his family, whether on horseback during Texas trail rides, coaching from the sidelines, building fences, working cattle, exploring Florida beaches, or simply sitting together on the porch grateful for the life God gave him.

Oren and Elizabeth made their home in Sachse, Texas, where they shared deep friendships and served faithfully at First United Methodist Church in Garland, a community they loved dearly.

Oren is survived by his wife Elizabeth; three sons and their wives; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren, each one adored by him and each carrying a piece of his legacy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Bobby Dill, and his beloved sister Linda Frey Peacock VanDenBerg.

Oren leaves behind a legacy defined not by the positions he held but by the people he lifted, taught, and loved. He lived his life as a servant leader, a devoted family man, and a man of faith. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his generosity, his stories, and his belief that character, not circumstance, defines a person.

His life was a gift to all who knew him. His absence will be felt in every sunrise, every family gathering, every Sunday morning hymn, and every quiet moment where his wisdom once lived. We take comfort knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord, reunited with the loved ones who went before him. His legacy and the love he poured into the world will continue for generations.
