Nellie Dawn (Billie) Yarborough Couthran was born in Garland, Texas on March 1, 1929 and passed peacefully at home on July 29, 2024.

Billie was one of twins, known as Billie and Bobbie, and graduated from Garland High School.  She and her husband, Guy Couthran, loved to travel and work on their farm in Yantis, Texas.

She worked at Sears, in the keypunch department, for many years until her retirement.

If you had the pleasure of meeting Billie, you would know that she was an amazing cook, that could make turtle even taste good.  She loved to garden and was an excellent seamstress.  She had a sweet, contagious laugh, loved to joke and was a bit of a prankster.

During her lifetime, she saw the Star Bangle Banner adopted as the national anthem, The Great Depression, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Explorer I the first American Satellite, Alaska becoming the 49th state, Hawaii becoming the 50th state, the landing on the moon, 9-11, and many more events.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Letha Yarborough, her beloved husband, Guy Couthran, and her ten brothers and sisters, known in Garland as the Yarborough clan.

She leaves behind her daughters, Janet Allen (and husband Ernie) and Louanne Trebing, five grandchildren, Crystal Thompson (and husband Robin), Guy Voorhis (and wife Tami), Ben Trebing (and wife Candace), Drew Trebing (and wife Cristal), and Vivian Allen.  In addition, there are nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
