It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Perkins, age 74, of Mesquite, Texas. Michael passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and friends.

Born in Dallas, Texas, to Noel Wayne Perkins and Anna Perkins, Mike was the oldest of three brothers. Raised in Mesquite, Mike graduated from Mesquite High School in 1969, where he was an accomplished athlete, playing both football and baseball. His talent on the field earned him a baseball scholarship, and he continued his passion for the sport at Georgetown and Dallas Baptist University, where he played and later coached and umpired baseball. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Mesquite was where he found great joy in fellowship, faith, and service.

Mike's professional journey began at Ben E. Keith, where he was employed and eventually retired in 1987. He then pursued a fulfilling second career with the Transportation Security Administration at Love Field Airport, retiring in 2012. During his time with the TSA, Mike was recognized in the Dallas newspaper for his heroic actions in saving a man's life during a heart attack.

In 2013, after retiring, Mike found a new passion in Karaoke, starting his own Karaoke business. He became well-known for hosting lively events across the city and was even voted "Best Karaoke" by D Magazine in 2017. His charisma, infectious energy, and love for bringing people together made him a beloved figure in the Dallas area.

Mike was particularly proud of his singing, one of his greatest talents, and loved performing his favorite country music classics. He could often be heard singing songs from artists like The Statler Brothers, Brooks and Dunn, and Exile.

Mike's devotion to his family was unwavering. He and his wife, Pamela, were married for 37 years, creating a life filled with love, adventure, and memories, including cherished cruises and weekend getaways, with Alaska being one of their favorite destinations. Mike and Pamlea were exceptional dancers The way they effortlessly glided across the floor, with smiles that reflected their deep love for one another, will forever be a cherished memory.

A sports enthusiast through and through, Mike could always be found watching his favorite teams on his 85-inch flat-screen TV, with a special love for golf, and a friendly competitive spirit at the casinos where he enjoyed playing 3-card poker.

When he wasn't watching sports, he could always be seen out tending to his yard. Mike had a deep, unwavering love for his yard—an affection that was evident in every corner of his outdoor space. The meticulous care he put into his yard reflected his personality—patient, dedicated, and full of life. His pride in his yard was a reflection of the love and attention he gave to everything he did.

He was preceded in death by his father, Noel Wayne Perkins; his brother, Bobby Ray Perkins; and his beloved grandchildren, Jaylin Anderton and Jake Wallace Toler.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela Perkins; his mother, Anna Perkins; his brother, Ricky Perkins and wife Karen; his son, Michael Perkins and wife Melissa; his daughter, Alysha Anderton Perkins and husband Chris; his grandchildren, Madison Burnett, Mason Perkins, Jayde Williams, and Jodie Toler; his great-grandchildren, Rainey and River Burnett; along with nieces, Hannah Dodge, Paige Perkins, and Peyton Perkins; nephews, Brandon Perkins and; Kyle Perkins. Several cousins, and many, many friends. Mike's infectious spirit, generous heart, and love for life will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and memories that will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Mike – you will always be in our hearts.
