Michael Cameron Murdoch, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, passed away on March 20, 2026, in Garland, Texas, at the age of 68.

Mike was born on April 27, 1957, in Lansing, Michigan, and spent his early years in Tucson, Arizona. His life took a defining turn when his family moved to Dallas, Texas during his senior year of high school. It was at Lake Highlands High School where he met Mary Beth Sowell—the girl who would become his high school sweetheart, his partner in life, and the love of his life for 50 years. Their love story was steady, enduring, and deeply rooted, a reflection of the kind of man Mike was - loyal, constant, and full of quiet strength.

Mike spent time at Texas Tech University, where he was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He built a respected career in fire protection services, becoming known for his deep knowledge, strong work ethic, and the integrity he brought to everything he did. More than any title or role, he was someone people trusted.

Above all else, Mike was a family man. He took immense pride in providing for and caring for those he loved. He is survived by his children, Cameron Murdoch (Kelsey), Taylor Murdoch, and Elizabeth Murdoch Cram (Matthew), as well as four cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Douglas Murdoch; his siblings, Kathy Seale and Matt Murdoch; and many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beth Murdoch, who passed away in September 2024, and his mother, Norma Murdoch. There is comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with Beth, the love of his life, in heaven.

Mike will be remembered as a compassionate, selfless, and deeply genuine man. He was steady and dependable: the kind of person who didn't need to be the loudest in the room to be the most present. He was a constant, loving, gentle presence in the lives of those who knew him. He welcomed others easily, loved without condition, and gave of himself without expectation.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures - time on the golf course, hunting trips, a good cigar, and fixing things around the house. But more than anything, he found his greatest joy in his family. He was proud of them, devoted to them, and loved them fiercely.

His legacy is one of loyalty, humility, and unwavering love: a life well lived, and a man who will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
