Mary Lou Whitman, 81, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, in Royse City, Texas. Born on June 7, 1944, in Texas, Mary Lou lived a life filled with creativity, love, and devotion to her family.
Mary Lou was a talented artist whose work brought beauty and joy to those around her. She also had a deep love for singing that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family and she will be remembered for her ability to make her grandbabies laugh. She created countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Dawn Smith; grandchildren Tabitha Renea Hennigan, Renesa Cherie Kirkpatrick, Mary Elizabeth Alford, Cody Lane Whitman, Devyn Breanne Shea, Tyler Andrew Whitman, Summer Cheyenne Mullins, Amberly Brynn Smith, and Jayme Neil Smith; and great-grandchildren Penelope, Kaydence, Kinsley, Autumn, Mia, Johnny, James, and Judah.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Roy Whitman; children Cherie Dale Whitman, Stuart Lon Whitman, and Teresa Lynn Tucker; great grandson Jasper James Shea; parents Mary and Floyd Evans; and sisters Kay and Martha.
Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
