Mary Salas Martinez
1932-2023
After a long and full life our beloved Mother, Mary S. Martinez went to be with our Lord on April 4, 2023.
Mary Salas Martinez was born on May 3,1932 at 1616 McKinney Avenue, in Dallas, Texas to Ben and Josephine Salas.
Mary's story begins on December 6, 1949, when Mary was united in marriage to the late Phillip Adams and to this union, five wonderful children were born, Sylvia, Marshall, Margaret, Phillip and Cynthia Adams.
Mary was employed by Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas for five years in the Pathology Laboratory. In 1972, Mary received the Patient Care Award from Methodist Hospital for the work she performed while employed there.
In 1972, Mary married the late Eulogio Martinez and moved to San Antonio, Texas to reside and helped raise five wonderful stepchildren. During that time, Mary was employed at the San Antonio State Hospital in the behavior modification ward for 12 years. At times she found her position challenging, but always fulfilling.
Mary moved back to the Dallas, Texas area in the 80's and was employed at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for 15 years. Mary worked as a ward clerk on the third floor and made many lifelong friends among her co-workers. In 1997, she retired from Texas Scottish Rite and enjoyed being busy with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary is also a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church in Forney, Texas where she rode to church with her friend Mrs. Laura Vaughan.
Those that preceded her in death are; her loving parents Josephine and Ben Salas, Beloved Son; Phillip Anthony Adams II, Brothers; Stephen, Raymond, Benny, Marshall and John Salas. Sister, Betty Ann Salas; and Grandsons, Richard Anthony Ashmore and Joe Christopher Moroles.
Surviving children: Sylvia Adams of Dallas, Texas, Margaret and David Holcomb of Fate, Texas, Cynthia Adams, and Marshall Adams, both of Dallas Texas.
Surviving Grandchildren:
Sylvia's children, John Moroles, Steven Graves, Andrew Adams and wife Julia.
Margaret's children: Ann Marie Watson and her husband Tim Watson, Elizabeth Ashmore, Alexander Ashmore, and Mike Holcomb and wife Debra.
Cynthia's daughter, Ashley Taylor Titus and her husband Lance Titus.
Sixteen Great Grandchildren and Twelve Great Great Grandchildren.
Mary's Surviving Siblings: Lidia Ann Cervantes of San Antonio, Texas, Richard Salas of Dallas, Texas, Paula Ojeda of Irving, Texas, Ava Medina of Dallas, Texas, Josie Rodriquez, Nora Gonzales and Gloria Sepulveda. Cousins, The Flores family and numerous nieces and nephews and special nephew Ramon Cervantes.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5-9pm at Williams Funeral Home. Services will be held at Williams Memorial Chapel in Garland, Texas on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 1:00PM.
Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett Texas.
