Obituary

On the evening of June 13, 2023, Mary Kathleen (McKay) Bobbitt passed away peacefully.  Kathy was visited and comforted by her family at Ariel Pointe Senior Living at the time of her passing. Kathy was 66 years old.

Kathy was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on April 24th, 1957.  She lived her first 6 years in both Norfolk and Grand Island, Nebraska.  Her formative years from 1st grade through high school and then Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing were in the military community of Bellevue, Nebraska.

After Nursing School, Kathy married Alan Bobbitt.  She returned with him to Ferris Barracks, in Erlangen, Germany (July 1978-Oct 1979.)  While in Germany, Kathy volunteered at both the Brigade and Battalion Medical Clinics.

After Germany they were stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia from Oct 1979-June 1980.  Kathy worked as a Registered Nurse at the Columbus Medical Center.  From there they went to Ft Stewart, Georgia (Jun 1979-Jun 1982.)  Their daughter Jennifer was born while at Ft Stewart.

After leaving the Army, Kathy and Jennifer lived with Kathy's parents in Nebraska for the next 2 months, while Alan looked for their next home.  They have lived in Garland, Tx since 1982.  Their son Josh was born at then Presbyterian Medical Center, Dallas.

While Alan traveled, Kathy stayed busy by being active in multiple PTA's (at the same time), volunteering to help the school nurse(s), help teach children's Sunday School and VBS, and find time to be the Team Mom, and Board Member in the various school activities of both their children.

In 1996-97, Kathy took Nursing Refresher Course and got back into Nursing from May 1997 until earlier than planned retirement in December 2017.

The unfortunate surgery that caused her continued memory loss was in July of 2016.   This regrettable occurrence rescinded her planned retirement of traveling to see her beloved grandchildren. The progression of Kathy's memory loss eventually brought her to Ariel Pointe Senior Living (Memory Care) in March 2022.

Preceded in death by her mother Mary McKay and father Gerald McKay.  Survived by her husband Alan Bobbitt, Daughter Jennifer (Bobbitt) Larson, son Major Josh Bobbitt, Daughter in Law Chastine Bobbitt, wonderful grandchildren Natalie Larson, Everly Bobbitt, Callum Bobbitt and brother Tim McKay.
