Martha Sue Werner

Martha Sue Werner left us on the evening of August 28, 2026 to rejoin her sister Marlene in heaven. They were inseparable in life and are surely together again. She passed away surrounded by close family and many of “her babies” that Martha dedicated her love and her life toward.

Martha was preceded in death by her sister Marlene, her father Harold, her mother Lorraine, and her brother Bobby. She is survived by her niece Jessica Brining, her husband Joshua, their children Gabriel, Benjamin, and Uriah who shared both a home and a special bond and relationship with Martha that brought her true purpose and joy.

She is also survived by her brother Dennis Werner, his wife Marilyn and their children Christy, Kevin, and Amy. She is survived by her brother Warren who helped her stay in the family home and provided a unique mixture of support and distraction when she needed it most.

She is also survived by her nephew Braxton Werner, his wife Edith and their children Isabella, Sophia, and Jorge. Braxton was instrumental in helping Martha care for her sister during her lengthy battle with cancer and Braxton and Edith were a constant source of joy and support for Martha during her life. She looked forward to their family vacations on the beach and to the occasional trip to the casino.

Matha is also survived by her nephew James Werner, his wife Cristy and their children Kaitlyn Werner, Christopher Werner, and Marisa Gaudet, her husband Adam and their children Adeline “Linny” and Maisie. Martha is also survived by her nephew Nathan Werner, his wife Angelica Favala and their daughter Winter.

In addition to her biological family, Martha developed strong relationships with her long-time customers at Cut-N-Dry Hair Salon, a business that Martha and her sister Marlene owned and operated together until Marlene’s passing. Martha continued her ownership and stewardship of the salon until her passing.

Martha leaves behind generations of her babies that she helped care for, a family that will remember her and continue to revive her memory through stories about her, and a host of loyal customers that were an extension of her family. Lastly, Martha leaves behind sweet little Ellie Mae, her dog and long-term companion.

One of the hallmarks of Martha’s character was sacrifice. She consistently and willingly set aside her personal needs to perform the foundational and often thankless tasks that made everyone’s life easier and more meaningful.

Martha was a highly spirited person. She was loving, outspoken, and deeply emotional. At the origin of that unmistakable emotional intensity was a servant’s heart and a deep love for the people and things she cared about most.

Martha has left this world in body, but her spirit will live on in our thoughts, our prayers, and forever in our memories. We love you. We will miss you.
