Obituary

Marion Polma passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on March 2, 2023. She died at the home of David and Melissa Loder where she had enjoyed the last 10 years of her life. Marion left her mark on the Earth in many ways. An avid traveler, she set foot on all 7 continents and embraced the people and cultures she visited. Her work ethic was unmatched; working until the age of 87 when the pandemic forced her to remain at home. A child of the Depression, she experienced hardship growing up, yet rose to become an accomplished businesswoman, founding and developing with her husband an engineering company that flourishes to this day. Marion was also a sports fan, in attendance as each of the Mavs and Stars won their rings. She had a cultural side, too, as one of the founders of the Garland Symphony Orchestra.

A woman of many interests, Marion had one passion that exceeded all others: the love she had for her family. One of her greatest joys was living long enough to experience her children's successes, relationships with her grandchildren, and the birth of her two great grandchildren. Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, J. Frank Polma, her brothers William "Bill" Beglen and Walter Beglen and half brothers John and Jim Wellington. She is survived by her sister Catherine "Kay"  Bennett, and brother Joseph Beglen, her daughter and son-in-law Melissa and David Loder, her two sons and their wives, Frank and Paula Polma, Geoff and Gerda Polma, her six grandchildren, Alex Loper and her spouse, Joel Loper, Sophie Polma, Maxine Polma, Beckett Polma, Marlowe Polma, and Julian Polma, and her two great grandchildren, Kade and Tristan Loper. All can attest, and even J. Frank would admit, that Marion was the rock and center of gravity for the family. Although it was a life well-lived, her passing leaves a void we can never fill. Visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, TX from 5-7 pm March 4, 2023 . Funeral services will be held March 5, 2023 at Williams Funeral Home at 11 am , burial to follow funeral services. Marion's heart encompassed all, so in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the North Texas Food Bank.
