Marilyn Katherine Colasanto, 85, passed away on May 19, 2025, in Garland, Texas. Born on November 16, 1939, in Port Chester, New York, Marilyn lived a life marked by devotion to her family, a strong work ethic, and a heart full of compassion.

Marilyn began her journey as a dedicated stay-at-home mother when her son Dan was born. Her commitment to his upbringing was unwavering; she raised him as a single mother and ensured he had every opportunity to grow into a capable and responsible man. Her love and guidance were constants in his life-whether through warm meals or the occasional well-timed use of the wooden spoon.

As Dan grew older, Marilyn embarked on a new chapter in her professional life. She joined Hilton Hotels and rose to the position of Catering Manager at the Rye Town Hilton. Her attention to detail and ability to care for others translated seamlessly into her work, where she thrived in creating memorable experiences for guests.

Later in life, Marilyn moved to Texas following the birth of her grandson Daniel-a testament to her deep love for family. Determined to remain close and helpful, she began volunteering in the cafeteria at St. Joseph's Catholic School to ensure Daniel ate his lunch each day. Her warmth and dedication quickly made an impression on the school community. Recognizing her natural rapport with children and tireless spirit, the school hired her as a teacher's aide for first and second graders. She served in that role for several years until her retirement, finding great joy in supporting young students during their formative years.

Marilyn's nurturing nature extended beyond the classroom. She loved cooking meals for family and friends, always making sure everyone had enough to eat-often more than enough. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and connection, where laughter mingled with the aroma of home-cooked food.

She is survived by her beloved son Dan Colasanto and his wife Ann; grandson Daniel Colasanto II; her cherished sister Diane Pagliari; her nephews Kevin and Matthew and many others whose lives were touched by her kindness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Vallette.

Even in her final days, Marilyn's thoughts remained with those she loved most-reminding Dan to eat well and zip up his jacket. Her legacy is one of selflessness, strength, and enduring love.
