María Teresa Mejía

Nuestra querida María Teresa nació en León, Guanajuato, el 5 de octubre de 1942. Fue la sexta hija del matrimonio formado por Domingo Mejía Paredes y María Guadalupe Gómez Cordero, ambos originarios de Lagos de Moreno.

Su mayor alegría comenzó a los 23 años con el nacimiento de su primera hija, Blanca Estela, y la vida la bendijo nuevamente a los 31 años con la llegada de su hijo, Oscar Domingo. Durante muchos años y con una entrega incondicional, desempeñó de manera extraordinaria el doble papel de madre y padre, sacando adelante a su familia con amor y valentía.

En 1996, impulsada por la esperanza de una mejor calidad de vida y por el profundo anhelo de reencontrarse con su hijo Oscar —quien había emigrado en 1994—, emprendió el viaje a Dallas, Estados Unidos. El tan esperado abrazo ocurrió finalmente en 1997, cuando viajó a Hawái para reunirse con él. Un año después, madre e hijo decidieron regresar juntos a Dallas para establecer su hogar.

Esa casa se llenaba de luz con las visitas de su hija Blanca Estela y sus nietos, Laurita y Martín, quienes disfrutaban inmensamente de su amor y cálida compañía. En el año 2022, el corazón de la familia se expandió aún más cuando ella y Oscar tuvieron la inmensa alegría de conocer a Savannah, la hija de Oscar y nueva integrante de la familia.

El paso de María Teresa por este mundo fue un testimonio de lucha incansable y trabajo constante, pero siempre iluminado por su inmensa alegría y su amor infinito. Fue, en toda la extensión de la palabra, una mujer heroica.

Nos deja un invaluable aprendizaje de vida y sólidos valores que acompañarán siempre a quienes tuvimos el gran privilegio de coincidir con ella y amarla: sus hijos, nietos, yerno, hermanos, sobrinos y amigos.

María Teresa partió de entre nosotros, a disfrutar la presencia de Dios nuestro señor, el 17 de marzo de 2026.

In Loving Memory of María Teresa Mejía

Our beloved María Teresa was born in León, Guanajuato, on October 5, 1942. She was the sixth child born to Domingo Mejía Paredes and María Guadalupe Gómez Cordero, both originally from Lagos de Moreno.

Her greatest joy began at the age of 23 with the birth of her first daughter, Blanca Estela. Life blessed her again at 31 with the arrival of her son, Oscar Domingo. For many years, with unconditional devotion and extraordinary strength, she filled the roles of both mother and father, raising her family with boundless love and courage.

In 1996, driven by the hope for a better life and a deep longing to be reunited with her son Oscar—who had emigrated in 1994—she began her journey to Dallas, Texas. That long-awaited embrace finally happened in 1997 when she traveled to Hawaii to meet him. A year later, mother and son decided to return to Dallas together to establish their home.

That home was filled with light during the visits of her daughter, Blanca Estela, and her grandchildren, Laurita and Martín, who cherished her love and warm company. In 2022, the heart of the family grew even larger when she and Oscar had the immense joy of welcoming Savannah, Oscar's daughter and the newest member of the family.

María Teresa's journey through this world was a testament to her tireless spirit and hard work, always illuminated by her great joy and infinite love. In every sense of the word, she was a heroic woman.

She leaves behind invaluable life lessons and strong values that will forever guide those of us who had the great privilege of knowing and loving her: her children, grandchildren, son-in-law, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.

María Teresa departed from us to enjoy the presence of our Lord on March 17, 2026.
