Lucia Nedelcu, age 89, of Sachse, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early afternoon of May 21st, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Lucia was born on August 15th in Bucharest, Romania. She married Eugene Pompilian Nedelcu on April 22, 1961.

Lucia and Eugene have lived in Sachse, TX and attended Garland Bible Chapel in Garland, TX and Community Bible Chapel in Richardson, TX.

Lucia was an economist/accountant in Romania and became a full-time homemaker (domestic engineer) when she had her fourth child (daughter). Lucia and Eugene have 7 children, Despina (late), Simona, Mihai, Delia, Corina, Adina, and Lucia.

In the hearts of her husband, daughters and son, and in the hearts of all who knew her, Lucia will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, her strength of character, her faith and faithfulness, and her unwavering commitment to her family. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her wonderful legacy. Her memory will be cherished for years to come.

She loved hosting people and making everyone feel comfortable and cared for. Anyone who would come to her house, she would embrace as her own. She wanted her home to be like the Bethany home referenced in John 12, a place where Jesus felt welcome and loved, and where He was worshipped. Lucia enjoyed swimming, cooking and baking from scratch, reading, writing, and gardening. She enjoyed giving gifts and offering wise counsel.

Lucia's memorial service will take place at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, TX on Saturday, June 1st at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at 9:30 before the Memorial Service at the same Funeral Home. Burial will be for family only at Williams Reflections Gardens following the memorial service.

Lucia is survived by her husband Eugene, daughters, Simona, Delia, Corina (Walt) Wooten, Adina Nedelcu (Ashley Cardenas), Lucia (David) Johnson, and son Mihai (Amy) Nedelcu, and 20 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 bonus grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sister Rodica (John) Maianu, and Radu (Emilia) Carcoana and a host of nieces and nephews.

Lucia was preceded in death by her parents, Nicolae and Paraschiva Carcoana, her firstborn daughter, Despina Dickinson & her husband Ed Dickinson, and grandson, Michael Dickinson; her sisters, Cornelia Dragan, Dorina Popescu, Lidia Tudor, and her brother Aurel Carcoana.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at The Reserve at Richardson in Richardson, Texas for their loving and devoted care for our Mother in the last year of her life. In addition, the family is grateful to the Anchor of Hope hospice care professionals for their tender services to our beloved Mama.
