Louis Clyde
Crawford
Dec 7, 1943 — Feb 4, 2026
Garland
"Louis Clyde Crawford was born December 7, 1943 in Arab, Alabama to Louis Clyde Crawford, Sr. and Annie Hawk Crawford, the fourth of five children. Known as Tony to family and friends, he had a lively mind and loved to read, talk and laugh. A graduate of Auburn University, he started a successful general contracting business in 1979, and continued building all over the United States for the next 25 years.
Tony enjoyed traveling, learning new things, and meeting new people. Always ready for adventure, he was apt to turn down a dirt road or unmarked trail at any moment. His family can remember several occasions when he popped off a hubcap to slide down a snowy mountainside.
Tony loved his family and spent many years searching for the remains of his uncle, who was KIA in WWII. He later wrote a book about S/SGT Charles E. Crawford.
Tony is survived by his dear companion, Vreni Meier, his brother Robert H. Crawford, of Somerville, AL, his sister Betsy A. Duncan (Robert) of Eustis, FL, his daughter Erin Langley (Greg) and granddaughter Audrey of Llano, TX, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elizabeth I Crawford of 47 years, and brothers Joe R. Crawford of Baileyton, AL, and James Michael Crawford III, of Hampton Cove, AL.
Tony passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 4, 2026, greatly missed by all who knew and loved him."
