Obituary

Funeral services for Lois Louise (Jackson) Mitchell, 94, of Garland, TX will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in the Chapel at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, TX.  Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX.

Mrs. Mitchell passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025, surrounded by family.  She was born during The Great Depression on September 24, 1930 in Bennington, OK, to Cleo Othel (Forbes) and Mack Govie Jackson.  Cleo and Govie had five children, then Govie tragically passed away.  A few years later Cleo married Dan Kendrick, who brought two daughters to the marriage.  They had four more children before Dan passed away, leaving Cleo to raise 11 children alone. These difficult circumstances forged an unbreakable bond between Lois, her siblings and their strong mama.

Lois married Al Mitchell in 1950 and they had a son, Doug.  They moved to Garland, TX and had a daughter, Connie, and another son, David.  Lois worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and Texas Instruments.  After retirement, she volunteered at Memorial Hospital of Garland for several years, helping brighten the days of many patients.  Lois was a devoted wife, loving mother, and the sweetest grandmother and great-grandmother.  Becoming a grandmother, which changed her title to "Meme," was the greatest joy of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, son David, sisters Beulah Sanford, Mary Lottie Weckter, Lota Hughes, Fayna Lilley, Lanell England, Ruth Russell, and brother, Ben Kendrick.

Lois is survived by her son, Doug and wife Ann of Glenrose, TX, daughter, Connie Raines of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Jeff Mitchell, Justin Mitchell, Jennifer Mitchell Walker, Crystal Raines Hays and Colleen Raines; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lila and Cameron Hays, Madison Raines, Joel Mitchell, Kalen and Kole Walker, Lilly Ochoa, Jace and Addison Mitchell; older brother, Harold (Buddy) Jackson, brother-in-law, Dan Russell and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Tanya Holley for being a Godsend to the family with her care for Lois.
