Linda Sue Thompson

Linda Sue Reynolds-Thompson, age 83, passed away on August 30, 2026, in Garland, Texas. Born on March 11, 1943, Linda was a kind and gracious woman who loved her family fiercely. She was compassionate and deeply encouraging to those she held dear. She was only 14 years old when she met DJ, who would become her soulmate, but Linda’s father insisted that she graduate from high school before she could marry. So began a four-year courtship between Bridgeport, Texas, and Sulphur, Oklahoma. DJ was determined to marry Linda, and the rest, as they say, is history—a history that included four years of courtship and 63 years of marriage until DJ passed away in October 2024. Linda was a loving and supportive wife, an encouraging mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook and entertain.

Linda was a devoted member of Lakepointe Church in Garland, where she found a community of faith and fellowship. Her life was marked by her dedication and commitment to her husband and family. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Mitchell and Dorthie Thompson, Lesa and Jessie Yates, and Wesley Thompson; her grandchildren, David and John Thompson, Amanda Thompson-Copeland, Ashley and Brett Yates, and Alan Jack Thompson. Linda was also a proud great-grandmother to Makkedah Jo, Jennifer, Jayden, Annevelle, Jackson, Aria, Erin, Emma, and Naomi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Reynolds and Doris Pierce-Reynolds; her siblings, Fern Green, Charlene Sartain, and Barbara Reynolds; and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews, including a grandchild, Jennifer Thompson, and a great-grandchild, Alexander Yates.

Linda’s life story is truly the story of a woman who loved her Lord and Savior, her family, and the close friends with whom she enjoyed spending time and traveling. Her greatest accomplishment and true riches can be seen in her loving and ever-growing family. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
