Plano
Larry Keith Chapman, age 85, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, after a courageous 14-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a proud U.S. Marine.
Larry was baptized at Madison Avenue Christian Church in Huntington. Raised by his Aunt Mary and grandmother Mary Chapman, he was instilled with strong values of faith, love, and responsibility.
He graduated from Huntington High School and attended Marshall University before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served from 1957 to 1960 as a Corporal E4, training at Parris Island and serving in Okinawa, Japan, and Lebanon. He later worked in Kansas City as a Marine recruiter.
Following his military service, Larry began a career with Presto Foods, which brought him to Dallas, Texas. After helping grow the business, he returned to Huntington to open the 10th Street Dairy Store, a popular eatery across from his alma mater.
Larry eventually moved back to Dallas, where he worked at Texas Instruments while earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Abilene Christian University. At TI, he launched TI TV, a pioneering satellite communication network that connected employees worldwide.
In 1994, he opened the Dallas Diner—a 1950s-themed restaurant reflecting his passion for great food and nostalgia. After retiring in 1996, he founded a consulting firm, Corporate Visual Communications.
Larry loved movies, music, cooking, golf, his dogs, and driving his Ford F-150 trucks. Above all, he cherished time with his family.
On July 3, 1991, he married the love of his life, Zoe Hubbard. Their 34 years together were filled with partnership, joy, and devotion.
Larry is survived by his stepmother, Mayme Chapman; children Lori Chapman, Larry Chapman Jr. wife Julie, David Chapman wife Lisa from a loving mother Trixie Chapman and stepson Jared Hubbard wife Brigid. He is also remembered with love by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ira Chapman; mother, Ruth Alberta Boothby; and brother, Michael Chapman.
