Obituary

L Jay Harris, 91, went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2024, in Longview, Texas. He was born on January 13, 1933, in Bryan, Oklahoma to proud parents Lonie and Mary Harris.

L J served in the US Army till 1955, upon return he went to college and met his wife, Marjorie Laverne Dorman. They were wed shortly after and spent 42 years together before she passed away in 2001. L J retired from the State of Texas after 30 years as a CPA, and then went on to work for England Trucking as a long-haul driver, and then worked for Union Pacific as Crew Transport. L J loved to work, and it showed. He spent up until the final years of his life working and helping people when they needed it, he also loved social interactions.

L J enjoyed gardening, collecting art, listening to classical music and being with his family, many of which he had special nicknames for, which only he knew.  He loved being social, and always stayed in contact with friends and family, never met a stranger. Several times he would travel across the country just to visit an old friend or family member.
