May 17, 1966 — Feb 6, 2026
In Loving Memory of Kevin Warren Burnett
On May 17, 1966, in Sacramento, a son was born to Stewart Burnett and Susan Burnett. They named him Kevin Warren Burnett. Kevin grew up in Pecos, where he attended elementary school and later graduated from Pecos High School. During his high school years, Kevin discovered his love and talent for golf, a passion that would remain with him throughout his life.
His exceptional skill on the golf course led him to Sul Ross State University, where he proudly competed on the university golf team during a championship season. In 1988, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, laying the foundation for a successful professional career. While at Sul Ross, Kevin met the love of his life, Martha Burnett. The two shared 37 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, football games, laughter, and simple joys in life. Though they did not have children, they adored their beloved dog, Rodeo, who brought them immense happiness.
Kevin dedicated 37 years of his career as a Portfolio Analyst with GMAC and later Ally Financial. His colleagues knew him as diligent, steady, and deeply committed to excellence. Outside of work, Kevin enjoyed collecting autographs and football cards, watching football, and spending time on the golf course. His sense of humor and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Stewart Burnett. He is survived by his devoted wife, Martha; his sister, Stephanie Passmore; his mother, Susan Passmore; his cherished dog-child, Rodeo; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Kevin held deep appreciation for the compassionate medical professionals who cared for him: Duane Hinshaw, Amiee Hinshaw, Scott Smith, Dr. Mohanmand, and nurse Dedra Shaw. Their dedication meant the world to him. Kevin will be remembered for his steady presence, his warm humor, and his lifelong dedication to the people and passions he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of commitment, integrity, and quiet excellence.
